Wellbeing Barometer: English proficiency as foundation of international student success

Presentation Description:

This poster presents findings from a 2021 study which examined how English language proficiency affects English confidence, academic stress, student support, social engagement and wellbeing for international students. The poster will highlight the findings from this study, as well as, implications for ISSS and Admissions Offices to consider in their own practices.

Learning Objectives:

Understand how low English proficiency can affect a student’s overall wellbeing
Identify the connection between English proficiency and wellbeing factors (stress, connection with domestic students, confidence, etc)
Evaluate current practices to identify ways to improve international students’ wellbeing on campuses across the US
