Latest Updates on President Biden's New Immigration Actions

Presentation Description: On June 18, 2024, President Biden announced significant new immigration actions with the goal of keeping families together and facilitating the employment of U.S. college graduates, including Dreamers.

These executive actions address immigration issues while enhancing national security and supporting family unity.

The two main executive actions we will cover include the new option for people married to U.S. citizens to obtain a green card from within the United States and the new rules that help U.S. companies to more readily hire high-skilled U.S. graduates.

Learning Objectives:

  • understand the eligibility criteria and benefits noncitizen spouses and children of U.S. citizens can now obtain without leaving the United States.
  • create stronger support plans for advising students and graduates regarding the new opportunities for obtaining work visas, including the degrees best positioned to benefit from the new immigration executive action.
  • comprehend the new executive policy allowing individuals, including Dreamers, who graduated from an accredited U.S. institution and have a job offer in their field, to receive work visas more quickly.
