Presentation Description:

Creating a Magically Inclusive Work Environment - Would you like to create a more cohesive team? Learn how the UCLA Dashew Center Programming unit worked to create a supportive hybrid work environment for professional & student staff. We’ll discuss the importance of intentional practices like one-on-ones, outings, ice breakers, inclusive language, etc., as other institutions may want to be more intentional about developing team unity as they also work in hybrid environments. We’ll review recruitment, training, day-to-day interactions, staff evaluations & share best practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the importance of creating a welcoming environment where employees can feel comfortable in their identities and also feel like a valued member of a team.
  • Leave with examples of about how the Dashew Center Programming unit promotes inclusion and belonging amongst the Programming team members.
  • Leave with suggestions of how to implement one-on-ones, icebreakers, group outings, etc. into training and every day work of domestic and international student and professional staff in a hybrid environment.
