Risky Business? Start-Ups for International Students

Presentation Description: Ever-expanding extracurricular programs offered by campus Entrepreneurship Offices are popular with International Students. But, these are generally considered ‘risky’ behavior for Fs and Js in ISSS. This session will help you learn how to partner with entrepreneurship offices to serve Intl. Students. We’ll talk about interpreting immigration guidelines and advising on risk and compliance with the goal of supporting Intl. Students engaging in high impact entrepreneurial programs. This is an advanced session on F&J compliance and cross-campus collaboration.
Learning Objectives:
Develop an entrepreneurial mindset when it comes to supporting your entrepreneurial students
Learn new strategies for talking to and working with Centers for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Learn to interpret and advise on current immigration guidance around employment for international student entrepreneurs
